Time to say goodbye to 2014 and Hello to the new start of 2015. Time to let go and time to be optimistic of the good to come. Enjoy this moment in time as it will quickly become the time of the past. Peace and plenty for the new year.

Say Good Bye to Past Laments

The end of the year is the time to forgive and let go of all the perceived mistakes, misspoken words, wrong actions, right actions not taken, and any other self inflicted hurts.  Also, forgiving and letting go of the hurts caused by others is appropriate.  This forgiveness cleans the path for a fresh start unencumbered by the weight of past wrongs.  If major problems exist then take the actions to heal these.  If no actions can be taken, then just let go, cry if needed, and forgive.  Then be quiet, listen, feel and be see the beauty that always is.

Crowds

It has been a crowed few months with twists and turns and then more twists and turns.  Hum...I guess that keeps me from napping too much.

Trouble on the Horizon

The trouble coming was first felt in the gut. As the trouble came closer it expanded into the head and back as well.  The storm hit hard.  The mind tried and tried to solve the problems.  But no metal solution worked.  Only the events in a natural course allowed for the passing of the trouble.  Divine grace could not prevent the pain for the grace only provided sights of beauty in the fury.

Drawing While Kim Jung Gi Draws

Here are some the sketchbook drawings I drew while attending the Kim Jung Gi Lecture/Demo/Book signing at the Sturges Center for the Arts on August 2, 2014.  It was great to spend the day drawing, watching drawing, talking about drawing, and being in a theater with people who love to draw.

Espresso Macchiato

I have discovered the Espresso Macchiato! Wow, what an intense rush of flavor and caffeine.  This drink has just a dab of streamed milk on espresso  and at some establishments is served with a small glass of soda water.  Stumptown Coffee, Lord Windsor, and Portola Coffee Lab all served me a excellent one.  Be careful for this drink is pure and powerful and has nothing to do with the Caramel Macchiato served at Starbucks.

Prime Time

Force as I might, work flow/ life flow has its own rhythm. I may want something to happen now or to make a project work now.  But forcing only seems to break things making for more laborious work, work, work.  An example is that I go to relax at a coffee house for two hours while my daughter goes to dance. No work needed to be done here.  At the coffee house I sip ice tea and find myself during a little work that some now turns into some of the most productive hours of the week. And I don't even notice that I was working. Odd. When the time is right, the time right and when it is not, it is not.

Different Month, Same Meeting

I just realized  that I have been going to the same meeting four times a year for 14 years.  Same issues, some of the same players, some new, some have disappeared. Hum...always interesting faces there and interesting opinions.

A Phone Call

Mother’s day, Sunday morning, a call, thank you for the flowers? No.  “I have sad news…a black out….a fire hydrant hit…911…unconsciousness…a small desert hospital…”  A bag is quickly packed; a daughter says remember your sketchbook.   You drive the five hour drive with your grandparents hovering faintly just past the windshield above the hood of the car. You feel a peace, then a horror and tell them that you know that he is theirs, but that he has grandchildren of his own who still need him.  Getting close, only 46 miles of small desert road, with a blinding dust storm, left, cell service lost.  The hospital comes into view.  “I am his son…” Gurney, medical men in flight suits, oxygen bottles.  A salute from the pilot and the helicopter rises into the deep blue sky.  Mom, gas, coffee: a drive to the Paradise Road hospital.  Emergency room, ICU, “…we will run tests.” Breathing tube, sedatives, and no answers as relatives arrive.  Strong emotions and speculative prognosis are expressed by all.  Color and life re-enter his body, but eyes are closed and no words spoken.  He is stable, you wait by his side, and you quickly draw.  Later, three weeks later, still no answers, but Dad is aware with self-determination and checks himself out.  At home he rests and is recovering.

Sweet Light of Morning

March left with a roar of wind and rain both metaphorical and physical.  The new month brought a new morning of sweet color and light dancing on the clouds.  I reading this as a blessing of new beginnings and the promises of spring.

Field of Dreams

Dreams stuck in a field of mud with no energy to pull them out.  Doors close and no new ones in sight.  Looking back obscures the one front and center.  March madness and its leprechauns play tricks of confusion.  Enjoy the cosmic moon as it glows while taking out the trash at night. .

Moving to the Rhythm

Have you ever found yourself in a place, in a culture not your own?  Here in Southern California this can be a constant as you move from one one part of town to the next and interact.  Verbal language can be tough and get in the way.  A more effective communication is body language and allowing your body to be filled with the rhythms of your surroundings so that you move and vibrate with those around you.  Then this, and a smile, make all things work out.  Well most of the time..
