IF-Yield

Knowing when to yield to forces greater and and stronger than yourself is a skill and art that can save you from a heap of trouble.

My favorite is the bottom tonal sketch of the massive immovable elephant. so simple and precise. I like his expression and the dangling arms. The hat too is a perfect touch.

The final is cool as well, but something about the immediacy of the bottom elephant is great. Also the chaos of people stuck on the side is nice too.

I agree, the bottom tonal sketch is the best. the immoveable elephant is a great contrast to the chaotic crowd....and that hat is priceless.

The snake woman sketch is also pretty cool.

There is a nice informal balance in the final sketch and i love the shadow shape washes.

I love the loose washes in the finished painting, and the elephant's expression and trunk position suggest a casual air. He's quite comfortable with and confident in his strength. All are very nicely done.

Love that great elephant at the top! Great grays and purples and elephant shape. I do like the sketch at the bottom as well, but my favorite is the top one where he takes up most of the frame.

Your elephant must still be a baby. He seems so content and oblivious to to the destruction he could cause, and appears to be enjoying all the attention. I like how you've taken liberties with scale here, and how he fills most of the frame. I also enjoy "Dances with Snakes" (as well as the shaded study, so, what Rick and Alice said).
